Edgar Martínez (1963-) is a former Major League Baseball designated hitter and third baseman and, since 2014, is a hitting coach for the Seattle Mariners. He spent his entire 18-year Major League Baseball playing career with the Mariners, who retired his number, 11, in 2017. Edgar and his wife Holli created the Martinez Foundation, which works to provide resources, educational opportunities, and encouragement to highly-qualified young teachers and student-teachers of color.

In this image Seattle Mariner Edgar Martinez slides into home past Matt Nokes after Omar Vizquel's single to center field in the fourth inning. The Mariner's won this game at the Kingdome against the Yankees, 5-0.
