Legendary martial artist Lee Jun Fan (1940-1973), known professionally as Bruce Lee, was born in San Francisco, raised in Hong Kong, and attended college at the University of Washington in Seattle, before moving to back to California. During his time in Seattle Lee began teaching martial arts, and later his Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, sparking a surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s.

This image shows a Seattle Name-Droppers Tour group at Bruce Lee's grave at Seattle's Lake View Cemetery in Capitol Hill. The gravesite is visited by thousands of people from all over the world each year. People coming to pay their respects blanket the grave with candles, flowers, notes, and other offerings. Lee's son Brandon, a martial artist and actor, died in a filming accident in 1993 and is buried next to his father.
