Zebra Club opened in 1986 as young men's clothing store and hair salon that was also part theater and stage, with loud music, a video production center, and flashing neon fixtures. The unusual business model received national attention; the store doesn't own its inventory, instead manufacturers receive checks when clothes sell and they replace clothes that don't. In the 1980s the store sold many local casual wear lines like International News and Code Bleu.

In this image Bryan Johnson, store manager and co-owner (with Mike Alesko), poses in front of the store's iconic logo. As of 2025, the flagship store still operates at First Avenue and Stewart Street in downtown Seattle.
