The Filipino Community of Seattle, Inc. (FCS) was formed in 1935 as the Philippine Commonwealth Council of Seattle, and by 1965 had found a permanent home in the Rainier Valley neighborhood. As of 2019 the FCS continues to serve the Filipino American community through educational programs, senior services, dance and language classes, and advocacy.
In this image, nine women chosen as the Filipino American débutantes of 1967 pose together at the second annual débutante's ball held at the Filipino Community Center. All of the women are from the greater Seattle area and are 18 years old. The women are identified from left to right as: Linda Ramos, Bella Amor, Maria Corazon Escarte, Julie Ann Obien, Teresa Llanes, Antoinette Mamallo, Zenaida Floresca, Rosalyn Antoinette Corrales, and Evelyn Patricia Zapata.
