Environmental advocate Brock Evans (1937-), Representative Mike Lowry (1939-2017), and mountaineer Jim Whittaker (1929-), left to right, walk the final two miles of a week-long, 87-mile trek from the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area to Gas Works Park. The walk was sponsored by more than 30 environmental groups to protest oil and gas leasing in wilderness areas.
