Order an ImageOn September 25, 1980, the Rainier Beach Vikings football team broke a 37-game losing streak when they defeated Seattle Prep 12-6 at Memorial Stadium. The following day, the school called a special assembly in the school gymnasium to celebrate the victory, with the cheerleading squad leading the crowd in spirited chants. This photo shows exultant Rainier Beach High School students at the assembly, celebrating their football team's first victory since 1976.
