Coffee pioneer Jim Reynolds began working as a coffee roaster at Starbucks in the 1970s, when the specialty coffee industry was in its infancy. In 1984, Reynolds left Starbucks and Seattle for Peet's Coffee & Tea in San Francisco. As roaster, Jim helped build the company from a local Bay Area company to a strong regional roaster with national presence. As of 2017, Reynolds is "Roastmaster Emeritus" of Peet's Coffee & Tea, providing advice and expertise to the company.
