Order an ImageThe Q Patrol, a community group dedicated to stopping hate crimes against gay people in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, debuted in February 1991. Seven members, tutored by the group Guardian Angels, joined the first three-hour patrol. The patrols aimed to promote safety, provide support, defuse tension, and actively intervene, if necessary, in the event of a violent attack.
