Painter and muralist Kenneth Callahan (1905-1986) was one of the defining artists of the "Northwest School," an art movement which combined natural elements of the Puget Sound area with traditional Asian aesthetics to create a novel and distinct regional style.

In July 1970, Callahan presented awards to the winners in the annual Pacific Northwest Arts and Crafts Association Fair that took place in Bellevue, WA. This image was taken at the awards ceremony.
