The daughter of Alexander Scott Bullitt (1877-1932) and Dorothy Stimson Bullitt (1892-1989), Harriet Overton Bullitt (1924-) is a descendant of wealthy Seattle pioneers and civic leaders. Harriet and her siblings have donated substantial amounts of money and time to the Bullitt Foundation, founded by Dorothy in 1952 with a mission to protect the natural environment of the Pacific Northwest, and to other charitable organizations and causes. In the 1990s, Harriet started Sleeping Lady Conference and Retreat Center near Leavenworth, and a radio broadcasting company with stations in Chelan and Leavenworth.
In this image, Harriet sits at her desk as publisher of Pacific Search magazine (later Pacific Northwest). Harriet founded the magazine and ran it for 25 years.
