Cris Bruch is a artist who lives and works on Vashon Island. His work has been shown across the United States and he has been commissioned to build public art sculptures for the University of Washington, North Seattle College, and Sound Transit, among others. Bruch has received several awards for his work, including Northwest Major Works Award, the Betty Bowen Memorial Award, and the James W. Ray Venture Project Award. Bruch also won the Neddy Artist Award for visual artists in Washington State in 2001 Bruch also won the Neddy Artist Award in 2001.

This image shows Bruch with his piece "Burden of Proof" at the 1991 "Night Gallery" exhibit at the Center On Contemporary Art (CoCA). "Burden of Proof" explored the issue of addiction and included towers made from alcohol bottles and a ramp that wound around the gallery room, getting narrower as it rose toward the ceiling.
