Seattle's Kingdome celebrated it's 15th birthday with a party featuring appearances by nearly 20 former Mariners, Seahawks, Sonics, and Sounders. A buffet dinner was served on the stadium's main floor to entertainment provided by live music and sports challenges in which guests tested their pitching arms and tried to kick a field goal farther than Norm Johnson, Seahawks placekicker.
In this image John Johnson (1947-2016), left, Fred Brown (b. 1948), and Slick Watts (b. 1951), all former Sonics' players, talk together while John Spellman (1926-2018), former governor of Washington State, addresses the crowd at the Kingdome anniversary celebration. The Kingdome, originally built as a multi-purpose stadium to host all of Seattle's professional sports teams, was eventually seen as unsuitable for any of them and was demolished in 2000 in favor of two purpose-built stadiums that now serve the city's professional sports teams.
