Order an ImageIn 1989, over 9,300 cyclists planned to ride in the annual Seattle to Portland Bicycle (STP) Classic. Two days before the race, Susan Rice made a final round-trip training ride from her home in Kirkland to Seattle’s Gas Works Park. This would be her first time participating in the 202-mile STP, and she planned to complete it in one day.
