Bush Cycle Club bicyclists leaving Seattle, June 14, 1975
Order an ImageThis image shows some of the nine bicyclists of the Bush Cycle Club who set out from Seattle in an attempt to be the first group in modern times to complete circumnavigation of the earth via bicycle. The group was made up of Bob Ellis, French teacher at the Bush School; five recent graduates, Mark Boyar, Debbie LaZerte, Helen Anderson, Matt Rice, and Steve Ellis; as well as Francesca Martin, Debbie Hofee, and Rob Raine. The group ultimately rode 15,000 miles in 14 months, returning to Seattle on September 1, 1976.
