The Seattle SuperSonics (commonly known as the Sonics) were a National Basketball Association (NBA) team based in Seattle, that played from 1967 until 2008. The Sonics competed in the league's Western Conference Pacific and Northwest divisions and won the NBA Championship in 1979. In 2008, the team's new ownership relocated to Oklahoma City, where they play as the Oklahoma City Thunder.

This image shows the packed stands at the Seattle Center Coliseum during Game 7 of the NBA Championship Finals in 1978, which the Sonics played against the Washington Bullets on June 7, 1978. The Bullets won this game 105-99 and in doing so won the 1978 NBA Championship. However, the Sonics emerged victorious the next year when they faced the Bullets again in the 1979 NBA Championship.
