This photo show Seattle Mariners coach Lou Piniella acknowledging the cheers of fans in the Kingdome during pre-game introductions. The game was the season opener and Piniella's first game as the ninth manager in Mariners history. Piniella brought a 479-424 record into his seventh season as a big league manager. Piniella managed the Seattle Mariners for ten seasons, from 1993 through 2002.
