In 1968, the Seattle-King County Bar Association and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer sponsored a series of four free public forums on “What Everyone Should Know About the Law.” The second forum of the series, “Juvenile Rights and Responsibilities,” featured a panel of six high school students and seven adults, most of whom worked in fields related to youth and the law. The panel was moderated by educator Roberta Byrd Barr, who at the time was serving as Coordinator of Community Liaison Services for Seattle Public Schools, and was the moderator for the TV program “Face to Face.” Barr was the first woman to be appointed as principal of a Seattle Public School, at Lincoln High School in 1973.
