Painter Guy Anderson (1906-1998) was one of the defining artists of the "Northwest School," an art movement which combined natural elements of the Puget Sound area with traditional Asian aesthetics to create a novel and distinct regional style that was different from traditional Northwest Native American art forms, which had been long recognized as "northwest art."

Here, Anderson sits at his piano in his living room. He believed that the studio should suit the artist, and filled his living space with things he particularly liked.
