Order an ImageIn this image, demonstrators with the direct action advocacy group ACT-UP/Seattle (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) rally over the lack of federally funded research on treatments for HIV. They are picketing in front of a Seattle Police van brought to the AIDS Clinical Trial Unit (ACTU) at 11th Avenue and Cherry Street to carry off demonstrators occupying the building. One demonstrator was arrested after blocking the entrance to the clinic for one hour.
