This double-sided traffic map is "compliments of the Department of Streets & Sewers, W. D. Barkhuff, Superintendent." William D. Barkhuff was the Superintendent of Streets and Sewers from 1922 to 1928. This map was probably for visitors to the city, outlining where cars could park and "stand," along with rules for drivers in the city and major thoroughfares throughout the city.
The front of the map shows various parking and "standing" restrictions in the downtown corridor, from Railroad Avenue to Eighth Avenue, Holgate Street to Bay Street. The back has a smaller Porter Map of Seattle, copyright 1923, showing major arterial highways for the entire city, along with a list of "Don't for Drivers."
