Order an ImageEarly pioneer Josiah Merritt settled in the Snoqualmie Valley in the 1860s. Later settlers in the area called him Uncle Si and named the mountain near his cabin Uncle Si's Mountain. This was eventually shortened to Mount Si. This photographic postcard, probably made around 1910, shows Josiah Merritt's cabin, then the oldest in the Snoqualmie Valley. The cabin burned in 1912.
