Trident Imports store, with its distinctive yellow facade, opened during the 1962 World's Fair at Pier 56. Charles Peterson bought the store in 1964, and traveled the world in search of the exotic knickknacks sold at the store. The Seattle waterfront landmark closed in April 1997, when the retail spaces at Piers 55 and 56 were sold to investors.

This image is one of 322 slides taken of the Seattle waterfront between 1968 and 1982 as part of a study for development and revitalization of the waterfront.
