Aerial view of the Plaza of the States, Seattle World's Fair, 1962
Order an ImageThe Plaza of the States was located just south of the International Fountain and United Nations Way, in the center of the fairgrounds. The flags of all the states surrounded the plaza and included commemorative plaques at the base of each flagpole. Each state was honored at the Fair with its own State Day with a special ceremony, including entertainment by guests from that state. In the mid 2000s the Plaza of the States was replaced by green space.
The Plaza of the States was also known as the State Flag Plaza.
