Order an ImageIn 1958, members of the Seattle Chapter of the Indoor Sports Club, Inc. headed to the Handicapped Center for some fun. The Club, founded in 1930, is a social club for people with disabilities. At the Handicapped Center, they could socialize while enjoying arts, crafts, music, and other activities.
In this image, James Griffin, a Center instructor, plays a note on the piano and instructs the group in singing and breathing. In wheelchairs are Leola Roberts (left) and Claudia Scott. Behind them (left to right) are Frank Curtis, Blanche Smulter, Robert Christner and Norma Cassell.
