Bethany Sunday School, later Bethany Friends Community Church, was originally located at Atlantic Street and 24th Avenue South, beginning in the early 1900s. When that building was demolished in 1939 to make way for the approach of the Lake Washington Floating Bridge, the church's seventy-five members moved to a nearby space at 25th Avenue South and South Dearborn Street. In 1960, a new church at the same location was built by the struggling congregation of about twelve people and their pastor, Zenas Perisho. City directory entries for Bethany Friends Community Church end in 1965.
