Four-footed contestants hopped down Wells Street in downtown Renton on March 23, 1956. The event was Renton's second annual Rabbit Race. Nine-year old Tommy Sepanen tried to speed up the pace of the second-place rabbit, White Stag, by beating the pavement with a rolled-up copy of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "You always get results with the Post-Intelligencer," commented the reporter who covered the event.
