In March 1964, the Seattle Congress for Racial Equality (CORE) held peaceful demonstrations against Seattle real estate firms in efforts to get the firms to agree to show homes without regard to race, and to include a statement to that effect in their advertising. On March 22, CORE picketed both the Greenlake and Bothell locations of the Picture Floor Plans real estate firm, citing complaints that the business showed Black buyers "old homes in poor condition" while whites were shown better homes, claims the company denied.
