Vigil for missing Mississippi civil-rights workers at United States courthouse, Seattle, June 29, 1964
Order an ImageOn June 29, 1964, about 300 people marched from the United States Courthouse to Westlake Mall to protest discrimination in Mississippi and call for increased protection for student volunteers conducting a voter registration drive there. The march ended a round-the-clock vigil at the courthouse for the three young civil rights workers who had disappeared in Mississippi on June 21, and whose bodies were not found until August 4.
