Tommy Harper (b. 1940) is a retired professional baseball player who played for Cincinnati, Cleveland, Seattle, Milwaukee, California (Anaheim), Oakland, and Baltimore during his 15-season career. He played all three outfield positions, was designated hitter, and played first, second, and third base across his time in Major League Baseball. In 1969, he played for the Seattle Pilots in their only season before moving to Milwaukee and becoming the Brewers. Harper was the first at-bat in the Pilots’ inaugural game and got their first hit, a double, as well as scoring the Pilots’ first run. He was also skilled at stealing bases. He stole four bases in one game against the Chicago White Sox in June 1969 and led the American League in stolen bases that season, with 73. Harper retired after the 1976 season.
