Padmini Vasishth came to the U.S from India in 1954 to study chemistry as a graduate student at the University of Washington. Vasishth was active in international student relations at the UW, and spoke frequently about the culture and customs of India at events around Seattle. Vasishth was also active in the Foundation for International Understanding through Students, an organization whose aim was to promote mutual understanding between individuals of different nations as the basis for world peace.
