Mrs. William Gates, Jr. watches as her three and a half year-old son William Gates III examines an old medical kit included in a "Tillicum Box." Mrs. Gates was the Junior League chairman of the project that began in November 1958 with Junior League members visiting fourth grade classes with a box of museum artifacts. The school box program still exists today and provides hands-on local history learning in the classroom.
