In 1933, during the Great Depression, the United States government created the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) to help relieve unemployment. The CCC set up work camps in national parks and other remote areas of the country where the recruits planted trees, built roads and buildings and worked on a variety of other conservation projects.

This 1939 photo shows the headquarters building at a CCC camp near Seattle, Washington. Two trucks filled with men drive in front of the building. The exact location of this particular work camp has not been identified. If anyone can provide additional information, please contact the Museum of History and Industry.
