In this image shows the winners of the four top prizes in Art on Pine Street, an annual Seattle sidewalk exhibition. From left: Fred Anderson won the Frederick & Nelson award for "Bon Bon;" Paul Horiuchi won the Seattle Post-Intelligencer award for "Antedeluvian;" Alden Mason received the Bon Marche award for "Grain Forest;" and Ambrose Patterson won the Norman Davis award for "Bridge in Bay." The artists displayed their paintings in the windows of five participating stores on Pine Street.

Paul Horiuchi (1906-1999) and Ambrose McCarthy Patterson (1877-1966) were both artists of the "Northwest School" an art movement which combined natural elements of the Puget Sound area with traditional Asian aesthetics to create a novel and distinct regional style. Alden Carlson Mason (1919-2013) was a widely traveled American painter, particularly noted for his controversial murals.
