Order an ImageIn the 1920s, Bethel and Wyatt Rucker built the Hartford & Eastern Railway to connect their mining, lumber and real estate interests east of Everett, Washington. The gasoline-powered train started at Hartford, passed through the farmlands near Granite Falls, climbed through the rocky mountainsides along the Stilliguamish River to the Big Four Inn and reached the end of the line at Monte Cristo.
