Oral history interview with Horace W. (H.W.) McCurdy, April 25, 1985
Contact MOHAI to OrderThis interview was conducted by Lorraine McConaghy for the Life on the Homefront Oral History Project on April 25, 1985. H.W. McCurdy built Naval bases in Alaska and ships in Seattle during the 1930s, and in this interview he talks of the trials of running his business prior to and during World War II. He discusses being under attack from the Japanese on Kodiak Island. He speaks of Pearl Harbor, relations with the Soviet Union, and the influence of unions. The interview has quotes from McCurdy’s book "Don’t Leave Any Holidays."
