Ships in a Puget Sound port, circa 1907
Order an ImageShipbuilding and repair was prime industries in Seattle and other Puget Sound ports. This photo shows the "Favorite," a former San Francisco ferry which has been brought in for modernization. The conversion probably involved replacing the ferry's steam-powered engine with a gasoline-powered one. Several sailing ships are docked in the background. The photograph was taken sometime between 1902 and 1912 at an unidentified Puget Sound port.
Written on back of photo: "Two ships & a bark also a former San Francisco Ferry in a Puget Sound Port - the later sic for converting into a modern ferry." The name of the ferry, the "Favorite," has been added by a different hand.
