Order an ImageThe pipe organ at Seattle's St. James Cathedral was installed for the opening of the cathedral in 1907. With its 2,875 pipes in 47 ranks, the organ was the largest in the city at that time, and also one of the largest on the West Coast.
This photo, probably taken in 1907, shows a view of the pipe organ and organ loft at St. James Cathedral. The instrument is still in use for services and concerts. It is now the second oldest organ in Washington state which is still in its original installation.
