Brighton Beach School, Seattle, circa 1910
Order an ImageSeattle's Brighton and Brighton Beach district is located near Lake Washington, south of Columbia City and the Mount Baker neighborhood. The area's first school, built around 1880, had only one room. By 1903, students and teachers occupied a two-story frame schoolhouse with eight classrooms. This photo shows the Brighton Beach School, probably in the 1910s. The area became part of the city of Seattle in 1907.
