Arcade Building Annex on First Avenue, 1911

Order an Image
Seattle's downtown building boom continued in the 1900s. Between 1901 and 1907, two new office and retail buildings filled the entire city block between First and Second Avenues and University and Union Streets.

This photo was taken on a sunny afternoon in 1911. The Queen Anne streetcar is heading north on First Avenue past the shops and offices in the new Arcade Building Annex. This corner is now occupied by the Seattle Art Museum.
