First Methodist Episcopal Church at Third Ave. and Marion St., 1905

Order an Image
Seattle's First Methodist Episcopal Church stood at the corner of Third Avenue and Marion Street. It was torn down in 1908 when Third Avenue was regraded. The congregation then built a new building, First Methodist Church, further up Marion Street, at Fifth Avenue.

This 1905 photo of Seattle's First Methodist Episcopal Church gives a good idea of its Victorian gothic architecture.
