This photo, taken on a sunny day around 1905, shows the east side of First Avenue South, south of King Street. Signs on the buildings advertise numerous saloons with furnished rooms upstairs ("beds 15 cents, day or night"), a public bath with barbershop and laundry, a second-hand store, a shoemaker, and a few other shops.
