In this photo, taken sometime around 1905, a logger stands by his brawny horse. The horse's harness would be attached by ropes to one end of a log, and the logger would lead the animal along on foot, dragging the log behind them. This horse had been working in the logging industry for seventeen years. The photo was taken in an unidentified location in western Washington.
