By 1918, the railroad and the Sunset Highway brought tourists to Snoqualmie Falls. Some stayed at Snoqualmie Falls Lodge or stopped off to enjoy one of the lodge's famous breakfasts. Across the river from the lodge was the Puget Sound Power & Light Company's hydroelectric generating station, built in the 1890s. The electrical station is still there in the 2020s, but Salish Lodge now occupies the site of the old Snoqualmie Falls Lodge. Puget Power is now Puget Sound Energy.

This photo shows Snoqualmie Falls as it looked in 1920. Snoqualmie Falls Lodge sits above the falls (left). Puget Power's transformer house can be seen in the distant center of the photo. Spray from the waterfall floats in the gorge below. In the 1930s, the owners of the lodge promised visitors that they could see "a rainbow every day" in the waterfall's spray.
