Dining room at the Big Tree Inn, circa 1921
Order an ImageIn 1915, Humboldt County, California, sent an exhibit to San Francisco's Pan-Pacific Exposition housed in sections of a giant redwood log. After the fair was over, the buildings were moved to Venice, California and became the Big Tree Inn. In 1921, the inn was moved from California to a site near Des Moines, Washington, where it served as a restaurant. The buildings were moved two miles to Highway 99 in 1938. It was later destroyed by fire.
