S.S. North Star, Seattle, April 29, 1932
Order an ImageThe US Coast Guard Cutter North Star was a wooden cutter built for the Department of Interior in Seattle in 1932. The ship was a support ship during hte Antarctic Service Expedition from 1939 to 1941. Commissed to the Coast Guard in May 1941, the North Star became part of the Northeast Greenland Patrol, and was transferred to the Navy later in the war. The ship was returned to the Department of the Interior in June 1945.
