St. Mark's Cathedral, April 14, 1931

Order an Image
In the 1920s, construction of St. Mark's Cathedral began on Capitol Hill. The original plans called for a huge, Gothic-style structure. However, funding was cut back drastically during the Depression, and only the central part of the cathedral was built. St. Mark's still serves as the cathedral for Episcopalians in the northwest. This photo shows St. Mark's Cathedral shortly before its 1931 dedication.
