Youngstown School, Seattle, circa 1930
Order an ImageWhen it opened in 1917, Youngstown School represented state-of-the-art school design, with a combined auditorium-lunchroom and home economics department. Throughout the 1920s, the school population continued to grow, and an addition was constructed in 1929. The school was renamed the Frank B. Cooper School in 1939. The Cooper School moved to a new site in the 1999, which was renamed Patherfinder K-8 in 2009.
In 2006, the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center opened at the old building, serving as a multi-arts center for the Delridge neighborhood.
