West Woodland School, 1928
Order an ImageSeattle's population grew quickly after 1900. When the West Woodland School opened in 1910 on Fifth Avenue NW, it was already overcrowded. Wings were added to the Building in 1913 and 1925. The school continued to serve the Phinney Ridge area until the late 1980s, when it was replaced by a new building.
This photo, taken in 1928, shows the West Woodland School with its two additions. The original school building is seen between the two wings.
