Seattle Times Information Bureau, circa 1927

Order an Image
Sometime after the Seattle Times moved to its new building in 1916, the newspaper opened its Information Bureau. Anyone could call the bureau between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm to get answers to all kinds of questions, from ferry times to sports information. The bureau's staff answered callers' questions using maps, city directories, biographical reference books, sports almanacs, and many other resources.

This photo, taken around 1927, shows the staff and resources of the Seattle Times Information Bureau.
