Order an ImageBy the late 1920s, Seattle's downtown businesses pressured the city to remove the remaining part of Denny Hill so that the city could expand to the north. Nearly seven million cubic yards of earth were moved from public and private property during the regrading project.
This photo is half of a panoramic view to the north from the downtown area, taken around 1929. It shows 6th and 7th Avenues extending northward through the flattened lands of the Regrade area.
